Gum Disease Facts and Why the Perio-Aid ® Works

Gum disease affects approximately 80% of people in the United States. Gum disease has many forms ranging from bleeding gums and gum inflammation, called gingivitis, to a more serious disease called periodontitis. If left untreated, periodontitis may result in damage to the bone and tooth loss. These diseases are caused by plaque buildup along the gum line often in interproximal (inner gum line) areas that a toothbrush or floss may not effectively reach.

The Perio-Aid holds a toothpick at the proper angle and length which allows these interproximal (inner gum line) spaces to be reached. The Perio-Aid reaches these spaces more successfully than other tools on the market. The Perio-Aid enables the use of a toothpick to remove plaque from along the entire gum line, between the teeth and helps to reduce gingival pockets, therefore preventing or even reversing gum disease.

Gum disease has been linked to other serious health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and infertility. Ask your dental professional for more information on gum disease.

The Perio-Aid is available in 2 different styles- the Perio-Aid #2 and the Perio-Aid #3.

The Perio-Aid #2 is double ended with an adjustable nut on each end that tightens the toothpick in place. Each end provides a different angle which allows for easy access to the interproximal (inner gum line) areas.

The Perio-Aid #3 is single ended with an adjustable nut on one end to tighten the toothpick in place. This style has a wider handle making it easier for some people to hold and control. Both necessary angles to reach the interproximal (inner gum line) areas can be achieved with this Perio-Aid by inserting the toothpick in from both directions.

Both Perio-Aids will achieve the same results.
